Tim McGraw: Mending Hearts, Breaking Records

His father Tug McGraw, was a former baseball player. His wife, Faith Hill is a country singer. He’s won three Grammy’s, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards, 10 American Music Awards and three People’s Choice Awards. His name is Tim McGraw.

Samuel Timothy “Tim” McGraw was born in 1967, this country singer, recently turned actor, has quickly become one of the best-selling country stars of all time. His Soul2Soul Tour alongside his beautiful wife, Faith, broke records and became the highest grossing tour in country music history. Now it is considered to be one of the top five highest grossing tours of all time. 

Recently, being the talented individual that he is, Tim McGraw has began to dip his feet into the acting world. Starring alongside Actress Sandra Bullock in “The Blind Side,” earning supporting roles in “Friday Night Lights,” “Four Christmases,” and “The Kingdom,” as well as landing lead roles in “Flicka” and “Country Strong.” It’s obvious that this man is a double threat. Even rising country star, Taylor Swift, wrote a song about him. 

It was with the help of his father, a former pitcher for the Mets who later joined the Phillies,that Tim was able to rise to stardom. During a car ride with a few of his buddies who worked for Curb Records, Tug McGraw played his son’s demo CD in the car. They were instantly impressed with the young man’s talent and hurried to get him into the studio. Unfortunately, his first album which was self-titled did not make an impression on the public. It was after the release of his second album, “Not a Moment Too Soon,” that Tim’s career really began to take off.  

Losing his father to Cancer also fueled his success as he released one of the most touching albums of all time, dedicated to Tug McGraw. “Live Like You Were Dying,” the same titled single off of the album became the no.1 song of the year in 2004. Tim’s rapid, nonstop success is now being taken a step further. Just a few months ago, Sirius XM radio announced that they were dedicating a commercial free radio station solely devoted to Tim McGraw and his music. Having recently wrapped up on his album titled “Emotional Traffic,” Tim has also gone on tour joined by Country Singer Luke Bryan and The Band Perry.

Of course with the immense success that he has had, Tim McGraw likes to give back to his community by sponsoring Little League baseball teams, contributing to the Country Music Foundation, the Red Cross, and to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. He and his wife enjoy participating in charity events and commit themselves to giving back to their fans and communities as much as possible. In addition to being active in his community, Tim McGraw has also been active in politics and has plans to run for Senator or Governor one day. He is a Democrat and fully supports President Barack Obama.

Tim McGraw is one of the most influential musicians in the industry right now. Not only does his lyrics touch and inspire his listeners but his lifestyle promotes love and caring. It’s refreshing to see icons use their success to help and benefit their fans and loved ones. His lyrics are emotionally charged and whether you are a country music fan or not (like myself), I guarantee you that there is at least one song that you will connect to.
