Burberry: Only the Best
Who doesn’t love the atmosphere of Bond Street or Oxford Street in London? Who doesn’t love a shopping spree at these fine state of the art boutiques? In London, people come from all over the globe to sample the finest fashion district in the world. The clothing line Burberry plays a significant role in this fondness. This ancient company has cornered the market for years, and everyday we witness their innovation and attention to detail. If I could afford it, I would drape myself in this luxurious brand. They sell it all, from hats to suits, to purses and wallets. Burberry is one of the most successful fashion companies in the world, and they show no signs of losing this title. This brand made its historical debut back in 1856. Thomas Burberry was the mastermind behind its creation. The clothing company began by developing outdoor attire for the wealthy. Today, they are one of the oldest clothing companies in the world. This publicly traded company sees revenues in the hundreds of millions every year. It is a fashion company that all Americans recognize, and their extremely high prices never really steer people away. Burberry has also designed fly-fishing wear and high-end suits. Their online website showcases all of their popular materials.
Now, let us talk about prices! I recently purchased a very nice hooded caban coat for $100. I love my coat and I love the deal I got on it. Burberry’s hooded caban coat sells for just under $2000. I also just purchased a concealed button wool pea coat from D and K inAtlanta(a discount clothing store) for one hundred and fifty dollars. Burberry sells this item for just over a thousand. Expensive? I do not know! Fashion is fashion and people like what they like. It is hard to place a value on any item. Next order of business: Men’s accessories. I recently purchased a pair of Costal-de-Mars (Men’s Sunglasses) for just over $150. Burberry also sells their square frame sunglasses $260. Now let’s get to the real good stuff: watches also known as “time pieces.” Burberry has a wonderful brand of watches, and a wide range of prices. For instance, their 42MM Rubber Strap Chronograph Watch sells for $499. My favorite aspect involving Burberry’s watch line is their sport watches. Most shopping enthusiasts would find a huge discrepancy in price, between a dress watch and a sport watch, but Burberry operates in a different manner. Their sport watches coast over $400. Furthermore, they have a line of watches that hit prices over $600, not to mention shipping and handling. My favorite attribute of Burberry is their swimwear. In their line, you will not find a pair of trunks for under $100, and some prices on their swim trunks climb as high as $300. As I have said before, if you got the money it’s all good.
Burberry has received indefinable success for over a century. They are the perfect example of the importance in building a strong brand. People will pay the heavy tax to slip into some Burberry linen. It is that simple. Burberry is as successful in men’s lines as they are in women’s. The company advertises in every major fashion magazine, and they are constantly developing new campaigns. Burberry has four divisions of brands: Burberry Prorsum, Burberry London, Burberry Brit, and Burberry Sport. According to several sources, Thomas Burberry knew his outdoor wear was going to be successful, but I do not think that he envisioned the global success that we see today. Burberry slithers into stores everywhere, from Nordstrom to Saks. The company also makes some of the best travel luggage in the world. Burberry even sponsors their own fashions show, devoted entirely to one brand. On Burberry’s official website, you can witness a great catwalk show. In this show, the Burberry Prorsum label is showcased in a very large greenhouse. There are at least 2,000 spectators in attendance. The website plays the entire show, and models present everything from watches to shoes. The female models also stroll down the aisle with $1,000 purses and $2,000 shoes.
Burberry uses celebrities to advertise their brand as well. Hermione Granger aka Emma Watson, from the feature film Harry Potter, is a perfect example of a celebrity model who endorses Burberry. According to Campaign magazine (a United Kingdom Trade Magazine), “Recent campaigns for Burberry include press activity, created in-house, to support its autumn/winter range that featured the Harry Potter star Emma Watson. A Burberry spokesman said: “We are in the initial stages of a review of our global media buying strategy to create a cohesive international media buying structure.” Burberry is a brand that will never go away. It is such a major part of English and American culture, and the company pays out major dividends in the stock market every year. According to Marketing magazine, “In the year to 31 March, Burberry’s revenue was £1.2bn, up 21% year on year and in excess of £1bn for the first time.” This is evidence of the company’s constant success and drive. As I have said before, If I had the money…for now, I will just look with envy and awe. I still remember the first time my mother bought something from the Burberry store onOxford Street. I remember the first thing I noticed was the price; however, I still saw the necessity in buying it.
