Love N Relationships: Mama’s Boy

Dear LNR:

I have a problem. I feel like I’m dating a little boy instead of a grown man. He’s 25 but he acts like he’s two years old. Even though he’s an adult (technically) his mother is the main source of this problem. I know what you’re saying: He’s grown don’t blame it on his mother! But, just listen to my story and I’m sure that you will agree.

For example, I have a problem with the way he and his mom greet one another. They kiss each other on the lips! She also cooks for him and refers to him as her “baby!” He stays up under her like a lost child and if I say something, he automatically takes offense to my statement. He told me that I’m jealous and trying to break their family apart. I really cannot talk to him about this situation because he thinks this is normal. On top of that, he tells her everything. She knows what’s going on in my home before I do. Why? Because he spends hours on the phone with his mom giggling and texting.

This is so disgusting. I’m all for a man respecting his mother and doing for her but where  and when do you draw the line? And of course she isn’t married and doesn’t have a boyfriend. Call me crazy but I think she uses her son to fill this void. I don’t know what to do. He told me that he would never try to come between me and my family. My family and I are close but we have our own lives. We do our own thing. I really don’t have to do much as a spouse because his mom does it all. He stops at her house after work for dinner and before work for breakfast. She always has his lunch packed for the day. I’m telling you this is ridiculous. We’ve been together for three years and I’m ready to throw in the towel so he can date his mother.
