Trendsetters and Visionaries from all walks of life are encouraged to display their showmanship, speed and creativity at the 2012 Red Bull Soap Box Race in Midtown Atlanta.
More than 40 soap box races have been conducted all over the globe in places like Italy, Africa, Jamaica and St. Louis. Teams are allowed to design human-powered vehicles that thrive off of gravity and imagination. The vehicles are required to be less than six feet wide and approximately 20 feet in length. This national race, for amateur drivers, is one of the city’s most popular events. In the past, participants have really put their imaginations to work by creating wardrobes to go along with their cars and even acting out skits. Some teams even put together their very own music soundtracks for the race.

In 2009, the event brought over 48,000 people to the city of Atlanta to witness 39 cars hit the streets. This year the creators of the event would like for more people to join in the fun by forming a team. Drivers have to be 18 years of age but the team can consist of individuals of all ages. Your five-member team could include your co-workers or your family members. Whatever you choose everyone is looking forward to having a great time. The Red Bull Soapbox race will take place on June 9, 2012 and the deadline for teams to apply is April 16, 2012. The event is free and open to the public.
