A group of neo-natzi’s attacked a Syrian family business in the Kiez neighborhood in Berlin one night. On that same night, a short film called “Guest on Earth,” was being filmed in that same neighborhood. A neighborhood that is home to GmbH co-founders Benjamin Alexander Huesby and Serhat Isik. The 4 minute and 25-second film highlighted the everyday acts of resistance that the two; along with people in their community, have to constantly practice.

The neighborhood of Dixwell located in New Haven, Connecticut stands in stark contrast from its surroundings. Nearby, Yale University’s campus offers a look into the privilege that can be found in New Haven. Dixwell, on the other hand, is a neighborhood often ignored by the privileged because of its economic challenges. In the early years of the nineteenth century, Dixwood was an art and music hub, specifically focusing on jazz. Now, with the help of local entrepreneurs, the predominately African-American neighborhood is returning to its artistic roots.

When I first saw the trailer for “Without Remorse” a little over a month ago, I instantly got excited. I eventually started reading up on it and learned that it’s based on a 1993 Tom Clancy book of the same title. As an avid gamer, and fan of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, as well as his 1994 film Clear and Present Danger, it was nothing more I needed to hear. I jotted down the release date in my notes and made plans to watch it on its April 30th release date.
