ChenPeng Fashion: Universal Beauty

Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King,  all had one great goal: social equality. 

Who would have thought that someone from the people's Republic of China, of all countries, would take a decisive step in this direction? Chen Peng and his fashion label Shang Hai Xuan Peng Trading Co. Ltd have been pursuing exactly this goal of reaching social equality since their founding in 2016, and incidentally also contribute to the revival of puff in Haute Couture.

Hip Hop DNA: Celebrating 50 Years

As listeners turn on their car radio, plug in their earphones or connect to their speakers, the faint sound of spray paint softly alludes and the voice of Ebro Darden is soon to be heard. 

Darden, an American radio personality and Global Editorial Head of hip hop and R&B for Apple Music, recently began a new journey as host of the Apple Music podcast “Hip Hop DNA.” It is a multi-series podcast that focuses on the core of hip-hop, taking a deep dive into the roots of the music genre. As hip-hop celebrates its 50th anniversary as a musical genre, the podcast is honoring hip-hop by bringing on several well-known hip-hop artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, Cardi B, and Beastie Boys.

Isaac Julien: Pioneer of Moving Arts

“The first major UK exhibition by one of today’s most compelling artists and filmmakers” headlines the Tate Britain, the National Gallery of British Art in London. Isaac Julien’s collection of masterpieces titled “What freedom means to me,” is on display now until August 20, 2023. 

The  artist had an eventful life and made a name for himself through his films and photography. Art lovers can see the exhibition of the world-famous artist Isaac Julien and internalize his life's work of more than 3 decades of devoted and expressive creations at the Tate Britain . “I wanted to invade the museum"...,” Julien explained to the Guardian.. “That's the whole reason I’m making my work. There will be a cacophony of sound. I’m interested in turning habits of how we want to meditate on art inside out.”

Beau is Afraid: Ari Aster’s Comically Evil Nightmare

When I heard this line, it clicked for me. This description is how it felt to watch the surrealist horror comedy “Beau is Afraid.” What starts as one man’s journey becomes a descent into madness, misdirection, and mystery. ‘Beau is afraid of what?’ one might ask, and as the credits rolled, I concluded: it’s everything.
