Peter Doig’s paintings are characterized by their focus on landscapes and figures, while also illustrating his life story. Doig, at first, had no real ‘natural’ drawing skill and would often use photographic stills to improve his talents. “I want to make paintings using photos as a reference, the way painters did when photography was first invented,” said Doig to Art Net.

Originally from Live Oak, Florida, Ross is a self-taught artist who began singing and playing piano at the early age of five. Throughout his life, he continued to hone his technical skills and often used his voice in worship services at church, where his father was the pastor.
