“This is what happens when you take a nineteen-year-old boy and put him in prison,” is how the Comedian Ali Sidiiq introduces his story on an episode of the Comedy Central show titled “This Is Not Happening.” In a series of tragic and life-changing events, the Houston, Texas native went from reenacting episodes of the popular sitcom Martin for his cellmates to performing on stage in front of audiences worldwide.

Next-level singer and saxophonist, Masego, exists somewhere between genres of rap, classical house, and jazz, or as he likes to call it, “traphousejazz.” He’s been playing instruments and singing in church since he was a child but didn’t start making waves until 2011. Moses Ingram started out as a girl with a dream—a dream that like most, was no easy feat. Crediting her mother for getting her into acting, it wasn’t until she was 16 that she decided to take the career seriously. A West Baltimore native, the 28-year-old was faced with adversities as she tried to turn her dreams into reality. From being told by a student adviser she should choose a more “professional career,” to being rejected multiple times by the Juilliard School, it was her unrelenting determination, and the support of her family, that helped her turn her dream into the promising career unfolding before her today.
