All artists have different ways of interpreting the spaces around them. Often, there is a dichotomy between visual and verbal artists, with visual artists relying on the abstract and composition of objects to translate their thoughts to a medium. Verbal artists, authors, composers, and poets are more focused on an expository approach to their translations. However, there are those unique people that are able to cohesively blend both sides, and Artist Jane Hammond is one of them. Her paintings, prints, and photographs successfully borrow from the works of verbal artists to create a fusion of the abstract and analytical.

It’s never too late to take a leap of faith, change your mind and pursue a different hobby, start a new career and embrace a fresh start in life. Our greatest blessings often lie on the other side of fear, and Artist Robin Damore can firmly attest to this aphorism. She has lept, landed, and conquered, but her success would still be just a figment of her imagination without that first, faithful decision. When I first saw the prosthetic limbs created by Sophie De Oliveira Barata, I was taken aback by arms and legs that looked far different from the standard, mechanical look of artificial body parts. However, my shock instantly morphed into a fascination for her out-of-the-ordinary designs, one being of an arm that was made into a vibrant, blooming flower vine and a leg made of cherry wood with a fully-functional cuckoo clock in the knee. Barata beautifully illustrates a side of prosthetic limbs many of us didn't even know existed, a side that is artistic and completely expressive of the individual wearing it.
