The 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards brought forth a ton of laughs. The hosts of the 85 South Show, Karlous Miller, DC Young Fly, and Chico Bean showcased their fun-loving style on stage as they hosted the annual ceremony. I haven’t been excited about the BET Awards in quite some time, but when I got the news they were hosting, that changed immediately.

In her designs, we see reflections of edgy 90s grunge, traditional Indian techniques with a crisp modern finish draped and perfected across her eponymous brand Supriya Lele. The emerging icon grew up in the UK to a family of doctors as a second-generation immigrant originating from India. Supriya began her college journey with uncertainty and a fear of disappointing her practical, successful parents, with skepticism to pursue her creative passions.

One of the most historically beloved American television shows, The Wonder Years, came to an end in May of 1993. The widely popular sitcom which premiered January 31, 1988, followed a white suburban family between the years of 1968 to 1973. Now imagine if you were to shift the show’s dynamic from a white family in the 60s, to a Black family living in the same period.
