“My country gives me a great deal of inspiration; I don’t think I would have the same perspective (nor type of work) if I were living in the monotony of the Western world,” said Aida Muluneh in an interview with contemporary photography magazine LensCulture. Aida is from Ethiopia, where she was born in 1974. The pride she has of her country is displayed heavily in her arts, painting,, and photography. Through Aida’s art, we are able to take a journey to Ethiopia and get a glance at its beauty beyond the stereotypes that we’ve been force-fed to believe in Western culture.
