Last Thursday, I interviewed Sarah Clayborn, a young, charismatic artist from Goodyear, Arizona. The passionate creative has caught the eyes of thousands on Instagram and TikTok for her vibrant and amazingly life-like acrylic paintings that span from The Simpsons characters to Bratz dolls. However, the majority of Clayborn’s pieces are of well-known celebrities like the rapper Dababy and singer Jhene Aiko, and although it started off unintentionally, she embraces realism as her primary art style.

When I first saw the prosthetic limbs created by Sophie De Oliveira Barata, I was taken aback by arms and legs that looked far different from the standard, mechanical look of artificial body parts. However, my shock instantly morphed into a fascination for her out-of-the-ordinary designs, one being of an arm that was made into a vibrant, blooming flower vine and a leg made of cherry wood with a fully-functional cuckoo clock in the knee. Barata beautifully illustrates a side of prosthetic limbs many of us didn't even know existed, a side that is artistic and completely expressive of the individual wearing it.

Clothing is bland without a meaning. That is why we are captivated by distinctive looks with a purpose, and fashion designer Patricia Bonaldi delivers just that with her iconic designs. Bonaldi has made waves in the fashion industry since 2002 with her clothing that harnesses the colorful energy of South America. Her designs are “bold and Brazilian” for their detailed embroidered patterns, beading, hanging tassels, and vibrant prints that give an overall vibe of a dreamy beach vacation.

Beauty is not static. That is the sentiment held by women’s fashion designer, Daniel Del Core, whose clothing is known for its mutant combination of fashion and nature. He creates his designs out of inspiration from the moss, molds, fungi, mushrooms, and all of earth’s forever-growing entities that we find around us and right under our feet when we step outside.

Del Core is a 33-year-old fashion designer. He was born in Germany and is currently based in Milan, Italy. At 16-years-old, he left Germany to study ceramics, sculpture, and art in Italy, but later decided to study visual arts, fashion, and design at the design school, Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan. There, he worked as an intern for some of the world’s most famous fashion brands like Dolce and Gabbana and Versace. His studies eventually led him to become the VIP designer of Gucci under the company’s creative designer, Alessandro Michele. Del Core has had the opportunity to dress celebrities like Lana Del Rey and Bjork while at Gucci.
