Each year, fashion designers gather in New York to showcase their latest collections, and  media representatives flock to the events, eager to catch a glimpse of the upcoming season’s trends. What started in 1943 as an outlet for American designers to compete with the fashion moguls in France has turned into the largest, most anticipated fashion event in the world.

When Atlanta native Andre 3000 stepped onstage at the 1996 Hip Hop Source Awards, it was obvious that the crowd didn’t consider him and fellow Outkast member Big Boi worthy recipients of the “Best New Artists” award they were there to accept. In the midst of the current  east coast, west coast calamity, Andre 3000 murmured one of the most memorable statements known to the hip hop community to this day: “The south got something to say!” 

Those simple words sparked the beginning of a musical revolution that was rooted in the south. Almost instantaneously, Atlanta became a hip-hop haven. Still to this day, many consider it the music mecca.

Back in 2004, Georgia native Jabari Graham had an idea to showcase art and music in a setting that would draw a younger, more urban audience. He realized a city known for breaking molds in music should have been producing events like this for years now.

To be an acclaimed actor in this day in age is to stand out amongst the multitude of others seeking out the same roles and onscreen opportunities. Each year, the New York Times releases its list of best actors and each year we anxiously await to see who’s at the top of the list. In previous years, the list included names such as Kristen Stewart and Will Smith in 2021 and Julia Garner and Ethan Hawke in 2020.

It was the early 90s in the heart of Tokyo when designer Tetsu “Tet” Nishiyama took his first steps towards becoming the fashion mogul he is today. His initial project, FPAR, was born during the height of fashion’s punk scene. These influences can be seen in the simplistic graphic FPAR logo that aligned aesthetically with anarchist principles.
