Mac Wetha: A True Craftsman of Sound

Singer, songwriter, and producer, Mac Wetha has marched out of his comfort zone and into a new era of solo work this past year with the creation of his alternative EP “Make It Thru,” released June 10, 2021. The EP staged Wetha’s advanced technicality in production and his creative dream-like undertones to originate the birth of an album drenched in bliss and bewilderment. The solo artist went on tour with Beabadoobee, a London-based indie-alternative artist, in the Fall of 2021.

Having already been a major player in the music and literary art scene, the city also completes the trifecta by being a major player in visual art as well. The MINT Gallery is one of the staples of their visual art scene.

Chris Sollars: Experimental Commentary

A soccer ball is kicked through San Francisco, Calif. A beard touches a surface. Trash on San Francisco’s streets is picked up, cleaned, then carefully placed right back where it once lay. 

Through these actions Chris Sollars expresses himself. He creates experimental art that leads to as much commentary as it creates.

“The street and the immediate space around me influences my ideas directly,” Sollars told Juxtapoz.

The Indianapolis, Indiana-born artist moved to Rhode Island where he received his BFA in Sculpture from Rhode Island School of Design. He later got his MFA in Sculpture from Bard College Milton Avery Graduate School. Now, San Francisco is his playground and he finds the vast differences between the coasts inspiring.

Chidibere Ibe: Bridging the Gap

Think back to the last time you were in a doctor’s office. Did you see any medical illustrations or anatomical diagrams? Were the figures shown white and male? Odds are, they were, as this is the norm embodied in health textbooks and on medical posters. These images are wholly outdated and do not offer anywhere near an accurate representation of the diverse population. Medical student Chidiebere Ibe has made it his goal to transform the white world of medical illustrations.
