What began as a conversation between Najee Dorsey, an Atlanta creator, and a few other colleagues at a dinner in Chicago about the lack of Black representation within the art world blossomed into a movement that took both the internet and the city of Atlanta by storm. 

Dorsey knew that the art world could sometimes be a hard place to maneuver, especially for smaller artists, and he wanted to create a space that would welcome creators with open arms, giving Black artists a chance to grow and be recognized for their gifts.

Fans decked in purple sequins, cowboy boots, denim, pink hearts and cardigans lined up outside of these stadiums for hours, sometimes even days, to enter the doors and see the artist that many have loved since childhood.

Savannah McConneaughey, like most five year olds, became enamored by the catchy songs from Disney’s Frozen. Van Van learned the songs, singing and dancing in her living room while her parents watched her fall in love with performance. Her parents, Reggie and Tikenjna McConneaughey, knew their daughter had talent from the moment she learned how to talk, and they started to post videos of her singing on social media. “I was like ‘yo this little girl’s amazing,” said Reggie McConneaughey,” in an interview with NPR
