Dakoro Edwards: The Only Life I Know

At first he blended in with every dark-skinned brother in the dimly-lit room. But when he took a seat in front of a blank canvas, with his back to the audience, I could see a spotlight shining directly down on him. He automatically began to stand out, the room was his, he owned it. Although the artist was wearing dark clothes and rocking a black skull cap, I identified a “favor” hovering over him.
