From the outside looking in, one might assume that most singers find their voice in the studio or perhaps at their first talent show and even online. When it comes to R&B singer and songwriter Fana Hues she found her voice as a songwriter in the halls of San Quentin State Prison in California while working for a non-profit called Aim4TheHeart. As a volunteer, she participated in writers workshops and emotional literacy programs with inmates. This highly unusual place is where she discovered a voice she never even knew existed, a voice that was nearly lost during her childhood.
