For NYC-based artist Caroline Guilbert, life and color mesh together to form one. The artist’s holistic perspective on colors brings to light the beauty in everyday life, creating an approach to art that allows color and design to form from discarded pieces of humanity.
Through dyes extracted from discarded food and flower scraps, Guilbert uses natural waste to find the colors they want to use to color their work. They discovered this form of art while obtaining a master's degree in color.
